Geneveive Newman is a PhD Candidate in Film and Media Studies and English. Her past published work has spanned: eco-critical approaches to horror video games; disability and medium specificity in digital media; and queerness in streaming television. She is generally interested in the horror genre, transmediation, queer and disability studies, and feminist media analysis and has done archival and/or short-form work in these areas. Her dissertation work focuses on rape victim-survivors as the primary audience for sexual violence in media, literature, and poetry. This dissertation takes a prison abolitionist approach to envisioning media that potentiates radical approaches to imagining an end to sexual violence.
