Mark Best is a Senior Lecturer in English Literature and Film and Media Studies. He holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Indiana University. He has taught film and literature courses in subjects including the graphic novel; digital media; world film history and analysis; American popular culture; the Bible as literature; and popular film and literary genres such as the superhero and horror. His research interests include Japanese science fiction film and television, the Bible in popular culture, and the American superhero genre and gender in the Cold War era. He is currently working on a book project on Japanese giant monster movies, specifically the history of the Gamera film series from the 1960s to the present.
